LTV Steel Flat Rolled Products

Anchored by the Cleveland Works (58 percent of LTV's raw steel production) and Indiana Harbor Works (a 1200-acre complex just southeast of Chicago), LTV is the second largest domestic producer of flat rolled steel.

The Cleveland Works plant alone has the capacity to produce nearly five million tons of raw steel annually. The Cleveland Works' continuous anneal line (CAL) is designed to provide consistent mechanical properties across the width (and head to tail) of each coil because of uniform heating, cooling and continuous temper rolling. CAL products offer superior shape and flatness, and enhanced surface quality with greater paintability. These products are ideal for difficult forming applications, such as automotive exposed panels.

LTV's Direct Hot Charge Complex (DHCC) converts molten iron from the blast furnaces to a hot rolled coil in a highly efficient, continuous operation. A computer network monitors and schedules the DHCC, using artificial intelligence to ensure a smooth flow of steel and optimize plant production.
